CEO & Founder - Karter Layfield, MS

Karter Layfield, CEO and Founder of Legacy Wellness Center, established the organization with a vision to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for individuals and families seeking mental health support and holistic healing. His leadership is rooted in a deep commitment to advocacy, access to care, and community well-being.

Karter holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with a concentration in Education and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Walden University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology with an embedded Master’s in Philosophy, further strengthening his dedication to evidence-based and compassionate mental health care.

With over seven years of experience serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), Karter has held multiple leadership roles within the human services field. His professional background reflects a strong focus on empowerment, program development, and meaningful support for underserved populations, including youth, families, veterans, and first responders.

Karter’s dedication has been recognized through several honors, including a nomination for Employee of the Year with Duval County Public Schools in 2022, the School Turnaround Award, and being named Foster Parent of the Month twice in 2023. These recognitions underscore his ongoing commitment to creating lasting, positive change.

As the driving force behind Legacy Wellness Center, Karter Layfield continues to lead with compassion, integrity, and purpose—working to ensure that mental health resources are accessible, inclusive, and transformative for all.
